Episode notes

Ripple is building a serious institutional financial empire—but how much of it actually needs XRP?

Through Ripple Prime, the company now offers hedge funds, asset managers and professional trading firms access to crypto, foreign exchange, fixed income, financing, clearing and derivatives.

Its new Delta One operation pushes Ripple even further into Wall Street by allowing institutional clients to gain exposure to US shares, stock indices and digital assets through total return swaps.

For Ripple, this could become a major source of recurring institutional revenue. For XRP holders, however, it raises a much more uncomfortable question:

Could Ripple become enormously successful without creating meaningful new demand for XRP?

In today’s Daily Crypto Deep Dive , we separate Ripple the company from XRP the digital asset and investigate what Ripple’s expansion really means for token holders.

The bullish argument is that Ripple is assembling the licences, clients, liquidity, infrastructure and institutional relationships required to move traditional financial activity onto blockchain rails.

The opposing argument is that Ripple can generate substantial revenue from brokerage, custody, stablecoins, treasury services and financing without requiring clients to hold large amounts of XRP.
