Citigroup has raised its 12-month Bitcoin price target to $113,000 — but what would actually have to happen for BTC to get there?
In today’s Daily Crypto Deep Dive , we pull Citi’s prediction apart rather than simply repeating the headline. With Bitcoin trading around $85,000, a move to $113K would represent substantial upside — yet it would still leave BTC below its previous all-time high around $126,000.
We examine the numbers behind the forecast, including the enormous change in Bitcoin’s implied market capitalisation, why Bitcoin does not need hundreds of billions of dollars of fresh investment for its market cap to increase by that amount, and how relatively small flows can have a much larger impact when available Bitcoin supply is restricted.
We also look at one of the biggest factors behind Citi’s bullish outlook: institutional demand and spot Bitcoin ETFs . If billions continue flowing into Bitcoin investment products while long-term holders refuse to sell, could a genuine supply squeeze send BTC back above $100,000?
Then we break down the macro side of the argument — interest rates, bond yields, the US dollar, global liquidity and regulation — and explain exactly what could cause Citi’s $113K prediction to fail.
Finally, we ask the bigger question: is $113,000 actually bullish enough? Bitcoin has already traded above that level before. If BTC eventually reclaims its old all-time high and enters genuine price discovery again, $113K could end up looking surprisingly conservative.
