Bitcoin ETF Outflows Hit $202M

Episode notes
This special offer ends Sunday, August 30.
Bitcoin’s 9-day institutional buying streak has finally broken as US spot Bitcoin ETFs record more than $200 million in net outflows. However, the bigger story may be where the money went next: Ethereum and XRP funds continued attracting fresh capital, while Solana investment products reached another major milestone.
In today’s Crypto News Today roundup, we examine whether institutions are beginning to rotate away from Bitcoin and into selected altcoins, or whether Friday’s outflows were simply a temporary reaction to wider market pressure.
We also break down Solana’s extraordinarily close governance vote, which passed by only 0.33 percentage points and will significantly reduce the rate at which new SOL enters circulation. The decision could strengthen Solana’s long-term scarcity, but it will also reduce staking rewards more quickly and place additional pressure on smaller validators.
Elsewhere, Ripple’s post-quantum security roadmap returns to the spotlight as blockchain developers prepare for the possibility of powerful quantum computers. We explain what this could mean for the XRP Ledger, Bitcoin’s experimental SHRINCS proposal and the enormous challenge of moving an entire cryptocurrency network onto new cryptographic standards.
We also cover the Bank for International Settlements’ warning about stablecoins, millions of dollars in dormant Bitcoin moving for the first time in more than a decade, and the Trump-linked Solana token that reportedly collapsed by approximately 99% within hours of launching.
