Episode notes

An XRP-linked stock has exploded nearly 300% in just days — but what exactly are investors buying?

In today’s Crypto News Today Deep Dive, we break down Evernorth from the very beginning and explain exactly what is happening with XRPN, Armada Acquisition Corp. II and the plan to create one of the biggest publicly traded XRP treasury companies in the market.

We start with the basics and explain what a SPAC actually is, how a private company can use one to become publicly listed, why SPAC shares often begin around $10 and how redemptions can dramatically reduce the number of shares available to trade. That matters because XRPN has surged from around $10 to almost $40, with the stock briefly trading above $50.

We then look at Evernorth itself and why the company intends to hold hundreds of millions of XRP on its balance sheet. The idea has obvious similarities to Michael Saylor’s Strategy and its enormous Bitcoin treasury, but XRP is a very different asset and the structure introduces some very different risks.

We explain what premium to NAV means, why investors might be willing to pay $2, $3 or even more for every $1 of cryptocurrency a treasury company owns, and why that premium can sometimes collapse even if the underlying crypto price is rising.

There is also the question of Evernorth’s existing XRP purchases. Some of the XRP already acquired was bought at prices well above current levels, creating a substantial unrealised loss on that portion of the treasury. Does that matter if XRP eventually moves significantly higher, or is it an early warning about the risks of building a corporate balance sheet around one volatile cryptocurrency?

We also examine Ripple’s involvement, the institutional money behind Evernorth, the effect a low trading float can have on XRPN’s share price and whether this near-300% move reflects genuine long-term value or a combination of hype, scarcity and aggressive speculation.

Most importantly, we ask whether Evernorth could become the XRP equivalent of Strategy. If more public companies begin raising money to buy XRP, it could create an entirely new source of institutional demand. But if treasury-company valuations become detached from the value of the XRP underneath them, investors could also be exposed to enormous downside even without XRP itself collapsing.
